On the 12th day of November 2021 at 12 :00 – 2:00 in the afternoon, the Grade II teachers held its first Learning Action Cell (LAC) session at the Audio Visual Room (AVR) of San Antonio Elementary School. All Grade II teachers were present together with the two Master Teachers, Dr Josenia S. Ariaga and Mr. Joseph A. Villaralvo. The session was opened by a prayer led by Mrs Jessybel Dollente followed by the recitation of Deped Mission-Vision by Mrs Angie T. Nariz and hosted by Mrs. Analiza T. Tongol.
Mr. Joseph A. Villaralvo started his talk as he was assigned as the speaker of the session. His topic was so interesting and very informative. This was about the SOLO or Structured of Observed Learning Outcomes which was popularized by Kevin F. Collis and John Biggs in 1982 in their book”Evaluating the Quality of Learning: The SOLO Taxonomy.
It is a framework for understanding with five levels, where each level embraces the previous level but adds something more. These are the following levels, prestructural, unistructural, multistructural, relational and extended abstract.
The topic was of great help to all of us teachers especially in constructing test items for the average and gifted pupils. It would be of great help to us in evaluating our learners fairly and at the same time the teacher will really know how much the learner understands the topic.
The teachers were so grateful to Mr. Joseph A Villaralvo for his generous effort in imparting his knowledge to us teachers. He is indeed the epitome of a typical teacher who is willing to share his all to his colleagues without expecting anything in return.
The session was a success and was formally closed by Master Teacher, Dr. Josenia A. Ariaga. The Grade Chairman of Grade II, Ms Cleoda E. Dimalanta read the citation of the certificates of appreciation and participation and distributed them to the speaker and to the participants. We were so happy then holding our certificates while taking our pictures for remembrance and documentation.
That day was so fruitful for all of us Grade II teachers.
